On September 25, 2012 Albania again introduced a visa regime for citizens of Russia, reported the online source Euromag.ru citing a statement Yetlira Swords, Assistant Albania's ambassador to Russia. The Government of Albania abolished the visa regime for Russians May 25, 2012 for the period of the tourist season. As a result of the introduction of visa-free regime in Albania in the past year the number of tourists from Russia increased by 70%, Albania was visited by about 10 000 Russians. The figures for the summer 2012 are not yet known. Now for entry into Albania Russian citizens need a visa, and the country can be visited on a valid Schengen visa.
