Indonesia's Golden Visa program, launched in July 2024, attracted investments of 52.1 trillion rupees (about 2.95 billion US dollars) as of May 18, 2026. A total of 1,274 permits were issued, said Hendarsam Marantoko, head of the Main Immigration Department.
The US citizens received the most "golden visas" 160. This is followed by China (147) and Taiwan (110). The leading countries also include Australia, Russia, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Japan and South Korea.
Corporate participants provided 97.7% of investments. The rest was accounted for by individual investors.
The pace of issuing visas under the program has decreased somewhat recently. By the end of 2024, immigration authorities had granted 471 "golden visas" totaling approximately 558 million US dollars.Nine months later, that figure had grown to 1,012 permits worth approximately $2.9 billion. However, from September 2025 to May 2026, the government issued only 262 permits and raised approximately $232 million.
The Golden Visa of Indonesia allows investors, specialists in certain fields, famous personalities and former citizens of Indonesia to obtain a long-term residence permit for a period of 5 to 10 years. To obtain a five-year permit, an individual investor must invest 350,000 US dollars in government bonds, bank deposits or shares of public companies, and 700,000 US dollars for a ten-year permit.
Higher investment thresholds are provided for corporate investors: $25 million for a five-year visa for directors and authorized persons, or $50 million for a ten-year visa.
Additional visa categories have been developed for wealthy retirees, talented professionals from all over the world and investors in Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), the new capital of Indonesia. In January 2026, the government lowered the threshold for obtaining an IKN golden visa to $5 million for five years and $10 million for ten years.
