Over the first half of 2018, more than twofold growth of the tourist flow from Russia to Mexico was registered, primarily due to the return of charters in this direction and it is expected that in the coming winter season the volume of charter transportation to Mexico will increase, the portal of the Association of Tour Operators says.
The peak of Russian tourist arrivals in Mexico came in 2013 (100,6 thousand tourists from Russia), in 2014 77,500 Russian citizens came to the country. He was provided with charter programs.
The next two years showed a significant decline in the Russian tourist flow to this country - both because of the economic crisis in Russia, and because of the cancellation of the direct charter flights of Transaero to Mexico in connection with the bankruptcy of the airline.
The growth of tourist traffic to Mexico began only in 2017, when in the winter season 2017/2018. just a few Russian tour operators put direct charters in Cancun. Market players were satisfied with the results of the Mexican programs - flights had a 100% load.
Official Mexican statistics say that between January and June 2018, 25,632 Russian citizens visited Mexico, which is 108% more than in the same period last year (12,306 Russian citizens). Most of them arrived in the country via the international airport of Cancun.
According to Mexican statistics, Russia in the first half of 2018 has already shown the highest growth rates among the top 25 key entry markets in Mexico. The closest "persecutor" - the PRC - boasts only 26% growth.
