The Montenegro Tenants Association calls for attention to be paid to the rights of tenants and systemic problems in the rental sector.
The head of the association, Dragan Zhivkovich, notes that most of the rental services are in the gray area - more than 80% of tenants do not have an official contract. This leaves people without rights, without protection, and the state without tax revenues.
One of the problems is the sharp rise in the cost of rent in recent years. According to Zhivkovich, there are many reasons for the price increase: inflation, economic uncertainty, the withdrawal of apartments for tourist rent. Increasingly, real estate is being purchased solely for profit, but for life, he complains.
