Saint Lucia will continue to issue investment citizenship to Russians, reports St. Lucia News Online. The country's authorities do not agree that Caribbean jurisdictions should refuse Russian citizens to apply for regional citizenship simply because of their citizenship or place of birth. Saint Lucia Minister Ernest Hilaire, who is in charge of the citizenship by investment program, said: "I don't think we should punish people just because they were born in Russia." CIP processed 40 Russian applications for Saint Lucia investment citizenship between 2016 and 2021, Hilaire said. It raised $97 million.
