The international consulting company Henley & Partners has presented updated data on The Passport Index (The Henley Passport Index)as of the beginning of 2026. This global ranking, calculated since 2006 based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), ranks 199 passports worldwide based on the key indicator of freedom of movement - the number of countries and territories that their holders can visit without having to obtain a visa in advance.
Top 5 most powerful passports in the world in 2026:
1. Singapore (192 countries)
Singapore remains the undisputed leader of the rating. Citizens of this city-state enjoy unprecedented freedom of movement, having the right to visa-free or simplified entry to 192 destinations around the world.2. Japan and South Korea (188 countries)
3. Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland (186 countries)
4. Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway (185 countries)
5. United Arab Emirates (184 countries)
This state has shown the most impressive growth in the entire 20-year history of the index. Since 2006, the UAE has added 149 visa-free destinations to its index, making a leap up 57 positions.
Russia also retained 46th place, which it shares with Turkey. The Russian passport allows you to travel to 113 countries and territories without pre-issued visas.
