"Foreign investment in the luxury real estate segment is showing amazing resilience despite the geopolitical turmoil of 2023. The demand for such facilities remains essentially stable," commented Vincenzo de Tommaso, head of research at Idealista.
The citizens of the USA (15.9%) and Germany (15.7%) are most actively interested in expensive villas and apartments in Italy. They are followed by investors from Switzerland (6.7%) and the UK (6.4%), followed by France (5.4%) and Poland (5.4%).
The favorite destinations of wealthy foreign buyers are Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province in the Piedmont region (59%), Syracuse (57%), Venice (52%) and Como (50%). The top 10 also includes: Salerno (48%), Gorizia (43%), Trapani (43%), Messina (42%) and Imperia (41%).
