In January-June 2023, the demand for luxury real estate on the Athenian Riviera increased sharply, according to a report by Sotheby's International Realty.
The demand for luxury villas and apartments on the Athenian Riviera was higher than on the popular island of Mykonos (there was a decrease of 17.9% compared to the first half of 2022).
Corfu remains the leading destination in the elite segment. The center of Athens has risen to the fourth position, ahead of several well-known island destinations.
"This trend points to the growing attractiveness of luxury urban life in the Greek capital," the report notes.
Among buyers of luxury real estate in Greece, citizens of the United States and Great Britain are leading. Together, representatives of these two countries account for a third of the total demand.
Greek buyers represent the third largest group, which indicates solid domestic demand for luxury real estate. This is followed by investors from France, Germany, Israel, Australia, Canada, Switzerland and Belgium.
The report also says that Greece is among the seven countries (including Portugal, Spain, Montenegro, Italy, Greece, Egypt and Croatia) that should expect a rise in the luxury real estate market. Apartments and villas on the seashore will be in demand, which will be able to offer "exclusive access to the beach, stunning sea views and the prospect of a quiet, secluded holiday".
