The cost of apartments in South Korea has doubled in five years, writes The Korea Times .

According to an analysis by South Korea's Civic Coalition for Economic Justice, the average apartment price in Seoul has more than doubled in the nearly five years of President Moon Jae-in's rule.

An apartment in November 2021 in Seoul averaged 43.1 million won ($ 36,590) per pyeong (3.3 sq m), up 109% from May 2017.

According to the study, the time it took for the average Seoul worker to buy an apartment from their income savings also increased from 20 to 38 years old.

The data presented is evidence of the Moon administration's lack of action to tackle the runaway rise in house prices, despite repeated promises to do so.
