Starting from May 2025, travelers entering Thailand without a visa must have proof of the availability of funds.In addition, those who enter with a visa on arrival may also be asked to provide proof of the required amount of at least 20,000 Thai baht (603.25 US dollars).Thai immigration officers have the right to request financial documents, and entry may be prohibited if the tourist refuses to provide this information.
What documents are acceptable to present as confirmation:
- bank statement for the last three months; A sponsorship letter if your trip is funded by someone else.
Citizens of countries that require a tourist visa to visit Thailand will now have to attach proof of financial viability to their visa application. This requirement was temporarily lifted in November 2023 to encourage travel after the pandemic, but it is now relevant again.
Today, Thailand allows citizens of 93 countries, including Russia, to stay in the country without a visa for up to 60 days, but the authorities are reviewing this policy.In the coming months, the period of visa-free stay may be reduced to 30 days, but there has not yet been an official statement on this issue.
