Turkey plans to settle the issue with payments using Russian bank cards "Mir". This was stated by the country's ambassador to the Russian Federation, Tanju Bilgic.
"As for the Russian cards, we hope that this issue will also be resolved in the near future," Bilgic said.Recall that Turkish banks stopped servicing Mir cards in the fall of 2023 due to the risk of secondary US sanctions, and since then the resumption of the Russian payment system in Turkey has not been discussed.
In March 2025, Russian banks VTB and MTS announced the launch of a payment system in Turkey using QR codes.
