The program for granting Turkish citizenship by investment has attracted $15 billion over the entire period of its existence, said Suleiman Soylu, a former Turkish interior minister. A total of 40,000 applications were received.
Soylu stressed that passport applicants undergo a thorough check. In addition, according to him, a system has been introduced that automatically "revokes citizenship" for those who came to the attention of international law enforcement agencies after naturalization. Photos of well-known members of international criminal organizations are uploaded to the screening systems.
Soylu also noted a clear distinction between citizenship and residence permit.
