The number of foreigners who received Finnish citizenship increased last year, according to the National Broadcasting Company of Finland YLE, with reference to the country's statistical bureau.
In 2011, 4,550 foreign citizens permanently residing in the country received Finnish citizenship, which is 200 more than in the previous year.
Of the total number of people who received Finnish citizenship, 1652 are Russians. So during this period, 97 foreigners received new citizenship in Lappeenranta, 79 of them were Russian citizens, in Imatra all 18 foreigners who received new citizenship were Russians.
