Previously, the functions of the diplomatic mission in this Caribbean state were performed by the Russian Embassy in Venezuela.
At the end of 2024, the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the Russian Federation, Alejandro Arias Zarzuela, said that negotiations were underway to resume direct flights between the two countries, although he did not name specific dates.
