The Georgian Parliament has adopted amendments to the law "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons" in the final reading, which introduce a new C5 visa for remote workers of foreign companies. This is a step aimed at attracting highly paid specialists from abroad to the country.
A visa is issued to digital nomads and their immediate family members for up to 5 years, but continuous stay in Georgia is limited to 12 months.
An accelerated application procedure is being introduced. However, at the same time, the authorities receive a new ground for refusal - "state immigration policy", and such decisions are not subject to appeal.
The cost of obtaining a C5 visa: from 20 to 500 dollars.
It should be noted that the introduction of a visa for digital nomads takes place against the background of a general tightening of labor migration legislation in Georgia. Effective March 1, 2026 new rules requiring most foreign workers to obtain a work permit.
However, the adopted amendments remove digital nomads (people who work remotely for foreign companies) from the scope of this law. The new C5 visa legalizes their status, allowing them to live in Georgia and work for foreign companies without having to obtain a Georgian work permit.
