According to the company Nomisma, the demand for housing in Italy today is estimated at about 2.3 million households: 839,000 families are already taking measures to effect the transaction, while about 1.4 million families are planning to purchase a house in the near future, writes Italy 24 .
Currently, Italian families (93.9% of respondents) consider the purchase of housing as a necessity, and not as an investment contribution. In particular, this applies to representatives of the younger generation. Only 6.1% of respondents plan to buy housing as an investment.
About 33.3% of Italian citizens buy housing through a mortgage. Primarily, the funds are spent on the acquisition of the main residence or its replacement (78.2% or 1.7 million families).
