In Latvia the ruling coalition parties argue about the future of the program, which provides a residence permit in exchange for the purchase of real estate to foreigners, which entered into force in mid-2010, according to the online source The Baltic Course with reference to LETA. National Association "All for Latvia" believes that the number of issued residence permits and properties sold to foreigners peaked for Latvia. Members of the party insist to agree on the manner and timing of the termination of the program as well as ignore the revenue from this program in the planning for the next years budget. Edmunds Demiters, chairman of the Reform Party proposes to revise the amount of investment required to obtain a residence permit, as well as to create a special fund, which funds received from this program. According to Valdis Dombrovskis, Prime Minister of Latvia, the Ministry of Finance will have to carry out calculations, this program will affect the state budget and the Ministry of Economy, in turn, will examine the impact of the program on the national economy of Latvia and develop proposals for improving the system.
