Chairman of the National Security and Defense Committee of the Seimas of Lithuania (NSGK) Laurinas Kashchiunas proposed to introduce a ban for Russian citizens and legal entities managed by them to buy real estate on the territory of this Baltic state.
The relevant bill will be considered by the Seimas in the near future. The one-year ban is expected to come into force on April 15, 2023. If necessary, the restrictions can be extended.
The author of the initiative believes that this measure is necessary for the national security of Lithuania.
According to Kashchiunas, in 2020, citizens of the Russian Federation purchased 632 real estate objects in Lithuania, in 2021 - 786, in 2022 - 699.
