The Polish government has exempted people buying housing for the first time from paying transaction tax. This tax is 2% and is charged when purchasing an apartment or house on the secondary market. Thus, this benefit applies only to the finished property from the owner. When buying an apartment in a new building, you will have to pay VAT in the amount of 8% to 23%. Nobody canceled it.
According to the Polish Ministry of Development, thanks to the introduced benefit, buyers save 10,000 zlotys (2,239 euros) when buying a property worth 500,000 zlotys (111,940 euros).
This measure is aimed at helping young families to buy their first apartment.
Another reform is planned - the introduction of a 6 percent transaction tax for those who invest in six or more objects in one complex.
Poland is struggling with the housing shortage in the same way. According to the national population census, almost 12% of residential real estate in the country is empty.
