Sberbank has launched QR code payments in Thailand through the Sberbank Online app.You can use the service in more than 6 million retail outlets across the country, including shops, restaurants and taxis.
To pay, open the app, tap the scanner icon in the upper-left corner of the main screen, and point your phone at the QR code generated by Yandex.Checkout. The conversion rate for payment exceeds the exchange rate by 8%, and compared to online international transfer services, it is on average 4% higher.
Thailand has become the 11th country where Sberbank customers can pay using a QR code. This payment method is already working in Azerbaijan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Brazil and Argentina.
According to the Thai Ministry of Tourism, about 1.9 million Russians visited the kingdom in 2025. Russia remains the largest European travel market for Thailand. Since the beginning of 2026, more than 820 thousand tourists from the Russian Federation have already visited there.
