The cost of obtaining a tourist residence permit in Turkey for foreigners, including Russian citizens, has increased dramatically. According to lawyers specializing in migration law, since April 28, 2026, the fee for an annual permit has increased almost 15 times and now amounts to at least $620.
Previously, the fee for a two-year residence permit for an adult was about 6,500 lira (about $ 144), and for an annual one - about 2,000 lira ($44). As of April 29, 2026, these amounts are as follows: an annual residence permit will cost more than 28,000 liras (about $620), and a two-year residence permit will cost 57,899 liras (about $1,284). .
The fee for issuing a residence permit consists of two parts. The first is a fixed fee for the production of a plastic card, which from January 1, 2026, amounts to 964 Turkish lira (about $21) . The second part is the direct state fee for a residence permit, which has increased several times.
For minor foreigners, the amount of the fee is slightly lower. According to lawyers, a two-year children's residence permit now costs more than 29,400 liras, which is equivalent to about 637 US dollars. The total amount may vary depending on the type of residence permit, citizenship and age of the applicant.
Students studying at Turkish universities are exempt from paying the new increased fee. As before, they only pay a fee for a plastic card - 964 lira, which is about $21. An indefinite residence permit is issued according to the same preferential principle.
It is important to understand that the increase affected not only the tourist residence permit. The new tariffs apply to family residence permits, permits for property owners, and some others.
The Foreigners Support service at the Turkish Department of Migration declined to comment on the reasons for the sharp increase in fees, citing the dependence of the amount on many factors and the type of permit requested. The new increased amounts are already displayed in applicants' questionnaires when filling out online applications on the official portale-ikamet.goc.gov.tr .
Important! The Turkish Migration Service is officially denied the information about the fee increase. For Russians and citizens of most countries, the fees for obtaining a residence permit have remained the same.
