Paris raises the municipal tax (taxe d'habitation) for vacant dwellings, the owners of which are foreigners, according to the international portal about real estate The Move Channel.

According to the official data of the city authorities, over the past 15 years, the number of homeowners, non – residents increased by 43%, while the number of people employed by tenants of houses increased by only 3%. Thus, 10% of the 1.1 million homes in Paris are owned by foreigners. The city authorities are concerned that the abundance of empty houses affect the availability of market housing for local residents in view of the General situation of supply shortage.
