Bulgaria took the fifth place in the EU on the growth of housing prices. So in the first quarter of this year, housing in Bulgaria has risen in price by 8.8% compared to the first quarter of 2016, the portal "Russian Bulgaria" cites with reference to the data of the European Statistical Service Eurostat.
Statistics show that over the past few years there has been a steady increase in house prices in Bulgaria. Compared with the last quarter of last year in the first quarter of 2017, housing in Bulgaria went up by 1.8%.
On average, in the EU countries, housing increased by 4.5% year-on-year in the first quarter, and by 4% in the euro area. Compared to the last quarter of 2016, housing prices in the EU rose by 0.7%, and in the Eurozone - by 0.4%.
The Czech Republic ranks first in this indicator (+ 12.7%), followed by Lithuania (+ 10.2%), Latvia (+ 10.1%) and Ireland (+ 8.9%). Only two EU countries recorded a decline in house prices - in Cyprus (-0.4%) and in Italy (-0.1%). In comparison with the last quarter of last year, housing prices fell in Malta (-5.4%), in Slovakia (-2.4%) and Cyprus (-1.4%).
