At a conference held on Monday, 30 November 2015, Deputy Director General of Dubai municipality, Abdullah Raffia reported that the city planners have completed the project of Dubai, is ready to accommodate 9.5 million inhabitants. At the moment the population is about 2.1 million people.
Raffia says: "the Size of Dubai will be 1/3 of the area of the Emirate of Dubai and will have a maximum "capacity" in 9.5 million man".

Arabian Business notes that, according to Dubai municipality, a specific time frame for implementation of the new project has not yet been formulated.
