Подробное описание
Kypseli is one of the central neighborhoods of the capital, occupies most of the municipality of Athens, and its population is about 65,000 people. It is subdivided into the following areas:
Ano Kypseli
Kypseli
Nea Kypseli
The urban development of Kypseli began in the 1930s with the construction of family houses and the first modern apartment buildings in Athens, whose design was influenced by international trends such as modernism, Bauhaus and Art Deco. The adjacent large green areas such as Pedion Areos and Fokionos Negri street have made Kypseli a prestigious area with many tenements built before the 1960s for the middle and upper class.
As part of the implementation of the plan Athens - Attica 2014 in 2010, in the Kypseli neighborhood, a massive demolition of illegally erected buildings, clearing of the territory and planting of greenery began. Some areas remained commercial, such as Patission and Fokionos Negri streets with many shops, and Kypseli is still famous for its many theaters.
The neighborhood is served by many bus routes, and a 4th line of the Athens metropolitan is planned for the coming decades, with several stations in Kypseli.
